Les

Les is responsible for healthcare marketing research at BRS. Like others at BRS Les brings an active mind and an insatiable desire to understand behavior; which he has had quite a bit of experience doing. He has an MS in Psychology and an MBA from the University of Georgia.

Les began his marketing research career at Coke Foods in Houston working on established brands (Minute Maid, HiC) and new products such as drink boxes and Bacardi Frozen Mixers; from which he gained real life experience in packaging, branding, segmentation, and positioning. Les then went to SC Johnson in Racine WI focusing on Health and Beauty Aid (HBA) products that are even more reliant than beverages on brand image to create a meaningful point of difference from the competition.

Les cut his teeth in the consumer products industry but the past 20 years have been devoted to market research and marketing OTC and prescription healthcare products, first ten years at Burroughs Wellcome (later Glaxo Wellcome) and then start-ups Faulding Labs and Adolor, where he established and led the marketing and marketing research functions. Les completed his client-side focus by directing the marketing function at DEY LP as it evolved from generics product focus to marketing successful brands.

For 3 years prior to joining BRS, Les returned to his marketing research roots, to focus on assisting start-up pharmaceutical companies evaluate new product opportunities and reposition struggling young brands.

Les’s balance of experience in marketing and marketing research in healthcare is an asset that allows Les to have a clear vision of marketing issues and the down-stream implications for internal and external customers.

When Les is not involved in some sticky marketing research conundrum, he is happy watching and coaching his two sons in soccer and baseball, and of course, enjoying the wines of Sonoma Valley where he lives.
