

Malcolm is a native of the UK where he began his research career
with Unilever Ltd. He moved to the US in 1974 to join McCann Erickson
Advertising in San Francisco and, later, New York. He started
his own consultancy in San Francisco in 1979, and was the Founding
Partner of The B/R/S Group in 1984. The Company grew rapidly and
became one of the nation’s leading providers of high value
qualitative work. With a formal strategic link with Research International,
it also developed a network of global qualitative providers.
Malcolm moved to Europe in 2000 to head up Research International’s
global qualitative network, the world’s largest community
of qualitative practitioners with a presence in over 45 countries.
He returned to the Bay Area in 2005 and is now back with the company
he started.
Malcolm is an occasional speaker at conferences and has published two recent papers on global branding, one of which won Esomar’s Fernanda Monti Best Paper award in 2003 (Titled ‘Managing Global Brands to meet Local Expectations). Malcolm is a three-time winner of Atticus, the annual award given by WPP for original published thinking. See these links for these papers ....
